Press Release Medical Teams International to Present “Healthy Women, Healthy World” Free Virtual Luncheon, September 23, 2021 By Medical Teams International September 17, 2021 (Portland, OR) September 17, 2021 – Medical Teams International is pleased to announce that it will be hosting its annual Healthy Women, Healthy World Luncheon virtually on September 23, 2021. New Zealander Helen Manson, global photographer and storyteller, will be the featured speaker. Manson’s work has taken her around the world to some of the most challenging environments documenting famine, refugee settlements, post-war environments, child sponsorship, micro-enterprise, trauma counseling and disaster zones. Medical Teams will also honor their 2021 Humanitarian Woman of the Year, Hamida Begum. Katherine Cook, longtime KGW News reporter, will be the host of the event. Begum, who lives in Bangladesh, has been working for Medical Teams International’s program in Cox’s Bazar since 2017. As a Community Health Worker, Begum acts as a bridge between community members and urgent medical care, providing counsel to pregnant women, promoting immunizations, and monitoring for health conditions that require further care at clinics. Her heart for keeping her neighbors healthy is remarkable, and Medical Teams is honored to celebrate this exceptional woman. This celebration of new life, healthy moms, and the love that connects us is free and open to the public.
