(Portland, OR) April 16, 2021 – Medical Teams International, a global humanitarian relief organization, is pleased to announce the appointment of Sarah Hasselbeck to its board of directors. Sarah will serve on the board’s marketing and development committee.

Sarah graduated summa cum laude from Boston College with a bachelor’s degree in accounting and earned her CPA. She worked at PricewaterhouseCoopers for three years, then married Matthew Hasselbeck, a ProBowl quarterback in the NFL for 18 years. He played for the Green Bay Packers, Seattle Seahawks, Tennessee Titans, and Indianapolis Colts, introducing the couple to many new communities. The Hasselbecks now reside in Boston where they are raising their three children.

Sarah and Matt have been supporters of Medical Teams since their time in Seattle and twice served as co-chairs of the organization’s Field of Dreams Auction. Sarah has traveled to Guatemala with Medical Teams to observe and engage in the organization’s work. The couple have remained involved with Medical Teams due to their trust in the fiscal diligence of the organization, their belief in the work being accomplished, and their relationships with staff and other supporters.

“My husband and I were introduced to Medical Teams through Matthew’s Seahawks quarterback coach, Jim Zorn, and his wife,” said Sarah Hasselbeck. “Our hearts were immediately broken by the stories we heard of trauma, poverty, pain, and illness. I greatly admire the work Medical Teams is doing and the love they are giving, and I’m excited to deepen my involvement by serving on the board.”

“We are so excited that Sarah has joined our board,” said Martha Newsome, Medical Teams President & CEO. “Her compassionate heart, in-depth experience in working with charities, and interest in marketing, communications, and development will contribute significantly to our mission.”

Sarah and Matt are also board members of the Pro Athletes Outreach, a pro to pro ministry supporting the NFL, MLB, and NHL. The Hasselbecks also support Danita’s Children and the Hope for Haiti home, school, medical center, and ministry. They are also long-time supporters of International Justice Mission, Compassion International, Charity: water and many other non-profits.
