Our Work in East Asia

Medical Teams International's first volunteer team worked in Cambodia in 1979. Nearly 30 years later, we are still at work in Asia. Health indicators in this region are nearly as poor as those in Africa. Approximately 40% of deaths from communicable diseases occur in East Asia. Additionally, road traffic accidents are one of the leading causes of death in several East Asian countries.

Teams

We expect to send 21 volunteer development teams to train local health care professionals and provide direct medical and dental services to patients.

We'll also ship an estimated $4 million in medical supplies and equipment to hospitals and clinics.
